If you want to rise to a higher plain - move forward in your life and career to reach your desired destiny -it is important you first must know the Who.
You - and most of us - are thinking about, or actively looking for and seeking, an opportunity to make a big change in our lives. Something that connects with you, or something that will help you to become the person you want to be and/or the career opportunity to move your life in a more positive - or, better yet - successful life.
The problem is, most of us, me, included, look for simple solutions. We often stumble onto many ideas and, then, solely for the perceived merit seen in a given person, opportunity, or simply for the emotional draw when presented with a quick solution, we make quick decisions. We commit finances, time and energy; all the while we have not yet figured out Who, as in, Who Are You?
In my life's journey I have made plenty of bad - and, yes - dumb decisions I thought would bring me satisfaction and/or fill the void I felt in my life; an opportunity to make it... be somebody... to make my life count. But, there are no quick fixes in this life, just as much as every opportunity or program is not for everyone. Does that make sense? Everything is not for everyone.
I have always, always wanted to play both piano and guitar; one of my greatest dreams is to play guitar. Sometimes I feel jealousy when I see someone playing guitar with such ease, especially when they are singing and playing. I think, "I can do that." The same with a piano, I love to hear an accomplished musician playing with such passion.
I have worked on this for no less than 35 years of my life. I have taken a few guitar lessons and a few piano lessons. I have owned two keyboards and several guitars. I know what some chords are on both. And, I can even play a couple of simple songs on both. But not a note more; what is the problem? I am not talented? I don't have all the resources I need? I don't love guitar and piano? I honestly believe anyone can learn to play at some level. And, I believe there are a lot of people with the desire to do so. But, the real honest issue is I am not passionate about it. It is not an all-or-nothing type of desire. I have learned to do a lot of things in my life and poured my life into them to be the best I can be; sacrificed time with family, entertainment, activities, and leisure time. But, the guitar and piano always take a back seat, probably as low as a desire can be.
We see people successful at something such as a business, athletics, leadership, and so many things in our lives we desire, and so we try to do the things they do.
We buy into their product, join their opportunity, become a part of their world of friends and their training, and we go to the same places and try to emulate their success. The problem with this is, if you do not have the same passion they have for what they are doing, or how they are living, you will not have the same results.
It is impossible to want something and not have to sacrifice for it in certain areas of your life when deep, deep down it is not your passion, and you will not reach the same conclusions as those with the passion.
Maybe they meet on Tuesday nights, but you watch CSI on Tuesday nights; which one is going to win out? Maybe they say they are Christians just like you, but they sacrifice time with their church family, but for you, your church family is more important than extra income. Maybe they sacrifice their own families to rise to success, but, in time, you will find your priorities are different than theirs. Or, maybe, it's a product they are passionate about, but it is a product you are not that passionate about, and do not see yourself ever becoming passionate about. You will never reach their level of success if you are not equally passionate about what you are doing.
So, back to the top, the Who, Who Are You?
• Do you know what is important to you?
• Your values?
• Your Desires?
• Your passions?
• Do you have goals?
• Are you a go getter, or a passive mover?
• Are you disciplined?
• Your values?

• Are you disciplined?
I believe strongly in the support and help of someone outside of our family and friends to help us evaluate these things in our lives.
Most people will never do anything much higher, greater or successful than those people, friends and peers within their circle of life. We need someone out of that circle to come alongside us, someone to shoot straight, who has also had the opportunity to walk outside the common everyday rut of life we find ourselves in. Someone who has tried and failed, as well as tried and succeeded.
You can - everyone can - become better, and rise to a higher level in our lives. But, we have to have a good understanding of what our passions are, because when life gets tough and/or what we are headed toward throws us to the ground, (and it will happen, believe me) you better really want it.
When it depends on you - and, you alone - everyday to remain committed to your goals and desires, you better have a passion for it, or you are going to leave the guitar on the stand that day and little by little, the guitar will be in the closet. You will have not moved even one step closer to your goal, yet, you paid the price of spent energy, you scarified your time and spent your money on the purchase of the guitar, and much more.
I deeply believe we all can become what our hearts desire, but first we need to figure out who we are.
• Do you need a strong support team to help you?
• Do you need to change your mind-set?
• Do you need encouragement?
• Are you able to be self-motivated?
• Do you desire to change; then what are your desires?
• Do you need to change your mind-set?
• Do you need encouragement?
• Are you able to be self-motivated?
• Do you desire to change; then what are your desires?
More importantly, evaluate your desires and know which ones are truly your passions. And, then set your goals that will stretch you to reach your true success.
Do not just leap without knowing you can handle the fall.
Applicable Thoughts:
1. Why were you created? The very first question in finding who you are is knowing where you came from, and why you were created. I do not know how anyone can begin to find purpose or value if they think they were an accident. I believe each of us were created with specific talents, values and purposes.
2. Reflection. We need to take time to reflect, truly reflect, on our lives. To do that you need to take time to take an honest look at your past. Evaluate the good and the bad, the highs and the lows, the victories and defeats. What have you learned about yourself through each experience? Because if we do not learn from both the good and the bad, we will continue to experience the same outcome. We all tend to rise to the lowest level of our expectations.
Once you have thoroughly evaluated your past, take note of who you are, who you really are.
• What gives you energy, what drains your energy?
• What makes you want to fight for a cause and want to continue in what you are doing without sleep?
• What are your strengths and weaknesses?
• What are your natural instincts and talents?
• What makes you want to fight for a cause and want to continue in what you are doing without sleep?
• What are your strengths and weaknesses?
• What are your natural instincts and talents?
Once you have adequately and honestly completed your reflection, let the past go. We are taught in the Bible to "leave the past and stretch for what is ahead." While we need to be able to look at our past openly and honestly, we cannot let it determine our future. We need to let go of the failures, falls, and even those damaging actions and events that happened to us which were beyond our control.
You can never be the best you can be if you let your past control your "Who" you "think" you are. All of us fail and fall and all of us have circumstances that have happened to us beyond our control, but falling is not the problem.
We all fall: the issue is getting up, dealing with our past, and then moving forward to a greater, purposeful and fulfilling life.
